on the edge of the New Forest.

We believe in keeping things simple and sustainable — no pesticides, no air miles, just beautiful

British blooms, freshly cut for your home or any occasion.

I love making and using willow wreath bases. They are perfect to reuse with dried flowers in the new year, or are fully compostable to feed back to the garden!

Our flower subscription is a beautiful, hand-tied bouquet of our seasonal flowers grown on the farm for you on the 2nd week of every month for either 3 or 6 months between April and October.

The greenhouse is super busy at the moment with hardy annuals and ranunculus in preparation for the 2026 season.
Some things that I thought had poor germination have actually come later - the ammi, larkspur (but not my own seed) cynoglossum and dill too.
I’ve put in some extra sweet peas too as I want them in the tunnel and outside too.

Although the flowers are stopping producing as many stems, there is still lots to do in the field this month.

The dahlias need labelling and sorting for storing or leaving in the field before the frosts. I’ve decided to leave most outside as in previous years they survive well, but some I don’t want in the field anymore will be dug and labeled and then rehomed in the spring.

The beds need clearing of annuals and it is always important to weed and mulch too. I’m finding lots of self seeded nigella, Vebena, cornflowers, larkspur and poppies so I need to look closely at the ground!

Next week I will start planting bulbs and will be sprouting the ranunculus too.

Wet days are when I will be preparing willow wreaths and spend time in the greenhouse potting on.

Last week I went to @commonfarmflowers for the intensive flower farming workshop- it was brilliant!
We spent time exploring Georgie’s farm and learning about her plant choices while she shared growing tips; understanding how to make the business efficient and productive and then we worked as a team to cut the best of the garden to create wedding floristry.
This time was everything I hoped it would be with the added bonus of meeting some fantastic growers who I have no doubt will continue to support and boost each other in our businesses.

The seed heads have been patiently waiting in their paper bags for me to be ready to sort it to sow.

This Nigella was crispy dry, and most had already collected in the bottom of the bag and was easy to tip out. After a little bit of winnowing to remove the chaff, the seed was ready to be planted.

I will broadcast this where this years Nigella has already self seeded ready for early flowering next year.

I have been making willow wreath bases and saw this lovely idea from @cherrytreewillow to use some hawthorn berries. We have such an abundance of berries in our hedgerows this year so it really feels like this is an autumnal celebration!

Over the next few weeks I will be making a selection of autumn wreaths using fresh flowers and foliage as well as the dried flowers I have been collecting. Do message me if you are interested and would like one too.

I am also thinking ahead to Christmas, and planning wreath workshops - if you would be interested let me know!

Drying hydrangeas is easy. They will then keep for months and will look lovey on Christmas wreaths!
These have been cut and placed in a vase with a small amount of water to drink until it evaporates. I keep the vase out of direct sunlight and heat.

Some plants haves coped ok during the heatwave but have needed daily watering. Others, despite the watering have many burnt leaves and are not very happy. I will need to consider moving them in the autumn unit a shadier area.

I picked some to dry but made sure I left some for the insects! ❤️

Early morning pickings from the flower field in early July

Today was a different farming day- we helped our friend @andyrobinson882 harvest his Triticale wheat @wealddownmuseum. It was cut with a Massey Harris binder and a vintage tractor. Andy had ploughed and sown the seed with his Percheron horse team in early spring. Once cut into sheaves, you take 5 rows and hyle them in groups of 10 so that the wheat dries which will take about a week or two. It will then be gathered and stacked in a rick and threshed in the autumn for the grain to be used for animal feed and straw.
